The Yawpers hail from the same beautiful burg as Conduit: Boulder, CO. They’re more identified as a Denver band now though, as they’re rising stars and one of the latest, greatest exports of the city’s vibrant music scene.
The concept is simple: take two acoustic guitars, run them through a bunch of pedals, fuzzboxes and overdrives plugged into big amps, add a drummer and gritty lyrics evoking Cormac McCarthyesque landscapes, and let ‘er rip. Talk about a power trio.

The Yawpers put out a tremulous noise that lives up to their name (taken from Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass: “I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.”). They bring a bourbon-and-beer-soaked sonic assault that comes through plenty loud and clear on their records, but is best experienced live. Fortunately, they tour a lot. Catch them if you can.
