In the world of music, the end of the year means one thing: lists! In an (admittedly futile) effort to acknowledge the great music that came my way this year, I’ve pulled together five such lists (so far).
As econo jammin’ thunderbroom hero Watt once said, “the only thing new is you finding out about it.” With a fIREHOSE (pun intended) of music releases steadily streaming at us, it’s folly to even try staying on top of it all. I am always stoked to happen upon new sounds, even if they’re not that new anymore. With that in mind, here's #5 on our Bucket (of) List(s): seven pre-2018 releases I “discovered” this year.
The Vibrarian's Bucket (of) List(s):
#5: New To Who?: 7 pre-2018 releases
(All lists are in alphabetical order. It’s hard enough to narrow it down to the final items. To then rank them is overkill (though some might say that I blew past that point a long time ago). The way I see it, whichever one I’m listening to in any given moment is the best.)
Africali — Taught of a Culture (Tokyo Dawn)
Aquaserge — Laisse ça être (Almost Musique)
Clap! Clap! — DIG! DELVE! DAMN! (Dutch Archive Edition) (Black Acre)
Gökçen Kaynatan (Finders Keepers)
Rosalia — Los Angeles (Universal Spain)
Sampa the Great — Birds and the BEE9
Y La Bamba — Jam In the Van (Live Session at Music Tastes Good) (Jam In the Van)
